The Canon Gallery has been dealing in oils and watercolours since 1985. I started my career as a cataloguer for Sotheby’s and then founded the Canon Gallery. Originally we were based in West Sussex and then moved near to Oundle in East Northamptonshire in England.
We have a large stock of oils and watercolours from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries within a price range of £150 to £50,000.
We are members of the BADA (British Antique Dealers’ Association) and LAPADA (London and Provincial Antique Dealers’ Association).
We can provide online valuations free of charge. To assist us with this you need to send us a good image of the painting and we will e-mail you with our opinion.
If you wish for a more comprehensive valuation for insurance or probate purposes we can undertake this at your home or appropriate location. We charge a negotiable fee for written insurance/probate valuations.
We can also offer advice on buying and selling paintings. We can further advise on starting a collection or purchasing for investment purposes.
We can advise you on the condition of your paintings and watercolours and provide an excellent restoration or framing service through framers and restorers we currently use.
Over the years we have dealt in works by some of our greatest artists including: JMW Turner, R P Bonington, John Ruskin, Edward Burne Jones, George Frederick Watts, Edward John Poynter, Henry Moore, Ivon Hitchens and many more.
We also deal in works by European artists. Including works by the Impressonists, Post impressionists, Barbizon School and Old Masters.
If you wish to sell a painting we can either purchase it outright or sell it on commission by private treaty.
