Oil on canvas , signed and dated 1921, inscribed on reverse on stretcher. 26ins x 32ins
Jamieson enjoyed painting in France, in this scene he has caught the heat of the midday sun perfectly, with very dark green shadows against the creamy yellow of the corn and the blues of the sky. Known maybe more for his buildings and towns , Jamieson was also a fine landscape painter who exhibited at RA, RSA and ROI. He served in France during the WW1 and married the artist Biddy Macdonald.
