Description

watercolour, signed with monogram, 19 3/4 ins x 13 1/8 ins. Alfred Morgan worked in oils and watercolours, exhibiting at the RA,BI,SS,GG and elsewhere. He had a wide subject range from Genre to Still Life. This view of small boats on an Italian Lake is a late work when he was trying to move away from genre paintings. It is a beautifully painted watercolour. A few years ago an oil by Alfred Morgan entitled " An omnibus ride to Piccadilly Circus-Mr Gladstone  with ordinary passengers" fetched £440,000, a record price. The asking for this watercolour will be slightly less! On view at Beazor Antiques in Cambridge.
