Portrait of an elderly gentleman

Portrait of an elderly gentleman, smoking a pipe wearing a flat cap and not a whippet in sight!  Pastels, signed and dated 1985, 11 1/2 ins x 9ins , (framed 21ins x 18ins)

Born in Yorkshire Blakey’s early career was in education.  However he always had an ambition to become a full-time artist. He realised his dream  in 1990 and began painting in a studio situated in the Yorkshire Dales.  Incidentally, the studio was opened by fellow Yorkshireman Michael Parkinson, as Blakey was painting his portrait at the time. Over the years he has painted many film stars, royals and politicians. He has travelled world-wide and has even designed costumes for performers.

Blakey is a portrait and genre realist artist who works in oils, watercolours and pastels.
